Accountancy
26 February 2025 - 2 min read
I’m 34, and after years of working in retail I decided that I wanted to try something different and change up my career. I got a job as a Trainee Accountant and wanted to learn alongside my job.
After looking into it, the best starting place seemed to be AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. This would give me the fundamentals I needed to start my career in Accounting and figure out where I wanted to go with it.
I spent a lot of time researching who to learn with, and after reading reviews online I decided to go with ICS Learn. The ability to do distance learning, and all of it being online was the biggest draw for me.
Having access to my course 24 hours is the most important thing for me. I can’t always learn during working hours, so being able to sit down in the evening, and use my iPad, has been very beneficial.
One of the things I like most about the learning is the mini quizzes as you go along. It helps to learn a bit, and then do a quiz to reinforce the knowledge before moving on.
Then doing the big quizzes at the end of each section of a Unit to check my knowledge and see what areas needs more work.
Following this, I would always do the practice exams to help me learn the setup of the questions and see how prepared I was to go into an exam. I will take a short break after completing this and then move onto Level 3.
