CIPD Student Stories: Bethan Thomas | CIPD Level 3 Certificate

Bethan wanted to stay ahead of the curve and level up her career so she chose to study a CIPD Level 3 qualification with us. 

I currently work in operations as a lead co-ordinator for a production company in London. As we are a start-up, we will be looking to expand in the coming years, and I wanted to get a head start on the HR operations side of the business so I can stay ahead of the growth and be prepared for when I start managing our new starters' onboarding and employment.

I have been debating doing this course for a long time, going from job to job, not feeling like a part of the team and not having a fulfilling onboarding and training so I decided to change that.

I wanted a career in HR because I wanted to be a part of the department that can change things and remind employers to support their staff and have an impact on the culture.

I chose to study with ICS Learn as I needed the flexibility of when I could dedicate time to study, as the past year for me has been turbulent, and I have needed extra time to start and complete my course.

I did have some reservations, however, about the level of support I’d get from my tutor and whether they’d be as involved as a university tutor or take a step-back approach. However, I get regular contact from my tutor and hope that this continues.

My qualification is helping me, as I understand the processes within a company better and can support management better going forward as we go.

I look forward to where my awareness of a company’s policies leads me as I go up the management ladder.

I would recommend ICS Learn for CIPD and other qualifications, as they are reputable and have been recognised in the interviews I’ve gone to for my role. It takes a while to understand the marking process and how to pass an assignment correctly, but when you do, it’s smooth sailing, and you get enough feedback to resubmit and pass.
