CIPD Student Stories: Annie Blackall | CIPD Level 3 Certificate

I'm currently studying my final module of the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice with ICS Learn, working as an International Admissions Assistant. However, it's worth noting that when I began my studies, I was working as a Travel Insurance Claims Handler.

I chose to study this course because having recently graduated from university I found that I deeply missed the personal learning and growth I gained from full-time education.

Returning to university, whilst something I am considering long-term, wasn’t feasible for me at this time and so I wanted to find a course that I could fit around my new full-time working lifestyle.

One aspect that I have found particularly helpful during this process is the feedback I have received from tutors.

I have found the ICS Learn community to be wholly supportive and non-judgmental, allowing space for learners to feel safe and comfortable asking questions and seeking support where necessary.

The fact that all assignments, even those that score well are given areas to improve massively helps to promote a healthy growth mindset during this process, which, coming from someone qualified as a primary school teacher, is priceless when guiding learners of all ages and abilities.

Although I have yet to fully complete this course, I have found that it has already begun to open doors for me as I have seen listed as a requirement for some HR Assistant roles online. As I hope to branch into HR in the future, this is encouraging.

Overall, this course has also given me a solid foundation of knowledge that I can now begin to expand and consolidate.
