AAT Student Stories: Jessica Nod | AAT Level 2& 3 Combined Certificate

Jessica wanted to pursue a bookkeeping qualification for both her current role and any future career opportunities. 

I currently own a company with my husband, who is an Engineer. He also owns an additional company with a business partner and for both companies, I undertake the admin and bookkeeping responsibilities.

I decided to pursue a qualification to make sure I was fully equipped, and so, enrolled on the AAT Combined Level 2 and 3 Certificates in Bookkeeping with ICS Learn.

They were one of the very few online providers to actually provide the combined course, which I was keen on completing due to the costs and the decent tutor support period.

The course also included the exam fees which was incredibly helpful. Distance learning is great when you have a busy family/working life.

You can complete the course at your own pace, picking up your studies when you have time and throughout multiple sittings!

The course material is designed well, helping you to gain knowledge, prepare for exams and study further with their list of recommended third party resources.

I've found the student services team to be both helpful and friendly, there when I need them. My tutor support has also been invaluable.

There are both online sessions and recorded videos, so you can watch back any clips that you miss.

You need to become an AAT Student member to sit your exams, but I've also found this to be incredibly helpful, as you gain additional resources that have helped me during my course and study sessions.

To be completely transparent, I've found some of the learning to be quite challenging, but this is as expected when learning a new skill so to speak. ICS Learn also offer an extension at a small cost if you need to extend your support period, which is useful if you need it. 

This qualification has already given me a greater depth of understanding for the job I'm doing.

Additionally, gaining an accredited qualification means should I ever want to go freelance or
work for another company in the future, I'm set. 

Once qualified, bookkeepers are able to gain a very competitive salary, so it's definitely worth all of the hard work!
