AAT Student Stories: Katie Cook | AAT Level 2 & 3 Combined Certificate

Katie is currently studying the Level 2 & 3 Combined Course in Bookkeeping and thriving. Read her story below.

My name is Katie and my current role is Finance Assistant at an Aerospace company. I am currently studying the Level 2 and 3 combined certificates in Bookkeeping.

I started out as a Buyer in the company I am currently working for but was given the opportunity by the Head of Finance, to start my accounting journey. I was excited to start my journey in accounting, so I looked up what qualifications I need to aid my career further. 

Starting from the bottom, I began browsing for Level 2 courses and soon found ICS Learn. A colleague of mine was already working towards her HR qualification and had provided great feedback. This combined with the reviews I had seen online, I took the plunge and chose to enrol and begin my studies.

I decided that I would do a Level 2 and 3 Combined Certificate to start with and was happy to initially be introduced to my designed tutor, who reassured me that they are here to guide me, if I so wish. I am quite confident in learning the material independently, so this type of course was right for me. I have done an online Level 3 apprenticeship qualification before, so I knew I’d be able to learn the material and create a study plan for myself.

ICS Learn provided all of the learning material that I needed to excel, as well as plenty of other resources that can be used should the student need it. This really impressed me!

So far, I am about halfway through the Level 2 part of my qualification, I have found it very positive. The online resources are clear and easy to follow, with lots of different aspects for example videos, bullet points and diagrams. I particularly enjoy that it's not just a load of words on a page to read.

This is good because it helps ease the learning process and makes it easier to follow. In the future I would like to progress and complete the Level 3 and 4 Combined certificates as well. This will enable me to understand more about finance, give me the knowledge and skills to aid me in the future.

I would 100% recommend ICS Learn, and appreciate their commitment to make learning not only easy to follow, but fun.

The course has already taught me an abundance of new skills, which I'll continue to use on my accounting journey. The support and encouragement from the tutor has also motivated me to keep going, staying focused so that I can reach my professional goals.

My tutor's already given me clear and helpful feedback when completing progress check tests, which is building my confidence and providing good revision tips for when I eventually sit my exams. All there is to do, is keep going!
