AAT Student Stories: Matthew Tattam | AAT Level 3 & 4 Combined Diploma

Matthew's enthusiasm for accounting shines through his student story. He studied both the Level 3&4 Combined Course in Accounting, read what he has to say about his experience.

My educational journey with ICS Learn started after I completed a degree in engineering for work. After my degree, I found I had a personal interest in how businesses were run – particularly their finances. From there, my interest in accounting was born!

I chose to study a Level 3 Diploma in Accounting with ICS Learn, because of their competitive pricing and high recommendations.

With flexible payment options available, I started immediately! In hindsight, I was a little ambitious to start with the Level 3 (as there was a Level 2 course available), considering I had no experience in accounting.

However, all the content was so clearly explained, I quickly gathered confidence in accounting, which just grew my passion further!

Another huge benefit I made the most of (especially towards the start of my learning journey) was speaking to my designated tutor.

They always shared their time and answered all the arbitrary questions I had on any topic in accounting.

It’s rare to find people who are experts, kind, and patient enough to talk you through the smallest ‘rabbit hole’ type question you throw at them!

All content was simply laid out by ICS Learn; it was ready and waiting for any time I had a few moments in my busy days. There were extended periods that I had no time or energy to learn. However, as soon as I had some time, my learning materials were there ready to be read!

Practice questions were intentionally placed throughout the learning content to check my understanding (which I find a crucial part of learning) and gave me feedback instantly.

After completing a section, there is a selection of mock exams which were also extremely useful in preparing for the AAT (Association of Accounting Technician) exams.

My assigned tutor was also especially helpful when talking me through some (admittedly, not successful!) attempts at my first practice paper.

When it came to me sitting my AAT exams, I found that ICS Learn prepared me magnificently! I often found the actual exams easy, due to the high level of preparation ICS Learn gave me.

It was a no brainer after I completed the Level 3: I had to also complete the Level 4. The successful completion of the Level 4 gives the full AAT membership! Even at this higher level, the learning materials are still just as comprehensive, and prepared me for the exams magnificently.

ICS Learn made learning accountancy, a topic I had no experience in at all before starting, a hobby! Something I actually enjoyed!
