Matt needed his GCSE in English Language if he wanted to pursue a Nursing degree apprenticeship, did he achieve his goal?
I have been working at an associate practitioner level for 18 years in the NHS but have been unable to progress any further as my grades from school were not good enough to be supported on higher level courses.
For quite some time I have been suppressing an overwhelming urge to learn, that could not be supported at work, eventually I plucked up the courage and began studying an A Level Maths with ICS Learn.
I enrolled onto this course purely for personal interest as it was a subject I enjoyed at school. I studied primarily early in the morning before work and looked forward to the live lessons.
I really found that this style of learning helped me to thrive, and the support from my tutor was incredibly prompt, friendly, and useful.
I ultimately achieved a grade A, and this was the inspiration I needed to take on an even greater challenge.
Now to many, a GCSE level qualification is easier than an A-level, but to me English Language has been my always been my nemesis; but If I were to achieve a GCSE pass in English Language my employer would support my application to a Nursing degree apprenticeship.
I therefore enrolled onto the English Language GCSE course.
Again, I was pleasantly surprised. The course was well structured and easy to follow, the live lessons helpful and the support from my tutor, incredible.
Today I received my result, and whilst just hoping to pass, I achieved a grade 9…I was speechless. My application for the Nursing degree apprenticeship has now been submitted and I look forward to my future that I honestly never thought was possible.
For anyone who is thinking of studying for their own interest or to further a career…do it. It was more than I ever hoped for.
