Amy Campbell

GCSE Maths

Amy needed her GCSE Maths to complete her undergraduate university degree back in 2022. She opted for online learning for full flexibility.

My name is Amy, and I currently work as a Customer Services Support Officer for Coventry City Council.

I studied for GCSE Mathematics with ICS Learn back in August 2021, and sat my exams in May/June 2022.

I chose to study with ICS Learn as it was without a doubt, one of the most affordable options I had come across when researching online for GCSE courses. At the time, I also studied online for university and enjoyed this kind of learning, so it made sense for me to stick with this format.

As someone who has multiple disabilities, I'm passionate about accessibility, knowing that I don’t do well in a physical classroom environment.

Having always preferred and opted for online options, ICS Learn allowed me to do just this, as well as organising my studies around my life, and allowing me to study for as long as I would like.

I didn’t have any reservations about studying online as it is what I am used to, but with so many online colleges, I was unsure which to pick; however, I found ICS Learn a great option. The only thing I would say for online study is that as it’s a lot of solo work, you must be committed to motivating yourself. However, if you can do this, it will pay off.

The online Maths tutor, Melissa, was brilliant. I liked the option of being able to attend live classes or previous recordings, mainly watching recorded sessions myself as it worked best for my schedule.

I hadn’t studied Maths for over ten years, so I was a little nervous, but Melissa began from the most basic Maths and built from there.

I plan to do teacher training once I complete my undergraduate degree, which is why I needed to get a four or above in GCSE Maths. I managed to get a five which was a bonus (the highest I could get on the foundation paper). I now feel much more confident in Maths which is also helpful at work and in everyday life.

I would recommend ICS Learn to anyone who prefers working on their schedule and at their own pace.

In the future I hope to redo my GCSE English before I begin teacher training, so I will most definitely return to ICS Learn to gain that qualification!
