AAT Student Stories: Kristina Lyubenova | AAT Level 2 Certificate

Kristina had the experience but struggled to find her dream role in the UK. She chose to study the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting to cement her knowledge, and hasn't looked back...

In October 2019 I settled with my family in England, originally from Bulgaria.

I came with the ambition to continue my career as a Chief Accountant and have a master's degree in Accounting and Control and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.

I have certificates for a tax and customs control specialist and several more in the field of economics, a well as a certificate of proficiency in English and German. So in general a large collection of diplomas and certificates as well as serious work experience.

With this, I thought it was would be straight forward to find my desired job, but unfortunately, I was wrong. 

I started applying and surprisingly for me I only received rejections which in most cases were automatic letters that I was not the selected candidate and did not have the necessary qualifications and skills.

It was a shock to me because no one invited me to an interview to evaluate me before rejecting me. After so much wandering I started working in different places part time because my little son was still two years old and needed my attention and presence.

I contacted a Bulgarian colleague who graduated in accounting in England and she directed me to find companies that provide accounting training and to join courses that will give me the opportunity to return to my work and improve on my lack of experience in accounting in England.

I started my search, my colleague referred me to two other training providers BPP and FIRST INTUITION, but what I was looking for was a flexible payment scheme because I couldn't pay the amount at once.

Everyone offered me various schemes and discounts but no deferred payment. One evening while looking at possible suppliers, I came across ICS Learn. I sent an inquiry and things happened. I was surprised how quickly and comprehensively I was answered and finally I had the perfect financial scheme.

Quickly after, I became part of the ICS Learn family and it felt great!

I started with enthusiasm and began the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

I was amazed by the great system of learning, the way of presenting the learning material and the help and support of my tutor.

I chose to start from the beginning, from the lowest level because I decided that I don't want to miss even the smallest detail and this will be an important training for me because I want to study to be an auditor.

I'm currently working at Pro Force Agency which provides me with work in Warehouses. It's not my specialty at all but helped financially.

While working, I did fall behind on my studies a bit, but I was able to extend my deadline, which helped greatly!

Now I am on the threshold of my new beginning. I was invited to an interview for the finance department of a company that wanted me to confirm that I was included in this training and after the quick response of the ICS Learn team I am now waiting for an answer…
