CIPD Student Stories: Chris M | CIPD Level 5 Diploma

Chris was ready to make a career transition, and found that a CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management was exactly what he needed to thrive in the industry of HR. 

Keen to change careers, the HR industry was one that intrigued me and so I spent some time looking at the different roles and options available.

Whilst researching, one key factor kept popping up, and that was that a CIPD qualification for a role in HR was either simply required, or was highly desirable. And so that was exactly what I did.

I have just finished studying the CIPD Associate Level Diploma in People Management and chose to do this with ICS Learn, for a number of reasons. 

Firstly, they had a number of positive reviews online, and compared to other providers, they were really competitively priced.

I was also pleasantly surprised to hear that they offered a CIPD price match if you were able to find the course with a different provider at a cheaper cost, which I thought was a great initiative  given the current financial climate.

I was also keen to find an online provider that allowed me to learn at my own pace, as while transitioning, I was of course still employed. 

Overall, I was really pleased with how my studies went.

In addition to the course materials, there was also regular class sessions that I was free to attend, that were a great opportunity for me to interact directly with other students.

Given that actually studying online was my only reservation about online learning, there was always a good level of individual support provided by my tutors if I needed it. As the course materials were great on their own, I was lucky that I only had to reach out a few times to my tutor. On the occasions that I did, they were quick to respond and were also incredibly polite!

Every tutor interaction felt like they genuinely cared for me, had my back and wanted me to succeed.

Although at the time I had not finished my qualification, the fact that I was currently studying it was enough to make me eligible to apply for a new role at work. I applied, albeit a bit nervous given the role was at a higher level and a much better pay.

However, thanks to my subject knowledge attained through studying the qualification, I was successful at interview and I’m now working happily in my new role!
